Day 5

Today is workday here.  This morning I slept in because my body is reminding me how old I am and the knee just screaming sore with every movement.  I dread this day where I have to complain about body pain.  So got up late go grab lunch at the food court, had my Taiwanese milk tea at the bookstore and then went shopping, and then back to the hotel.  It is not much but a lot in these couple of days.  I came back to rest because I was tired and also to get ready with my meeting with a potential employer.  I wanted the meeting because I really needed to understand further what they are thinking and whether I even like the area.  The meeting lasted about an hour which really is about me asking questions.  In short they offered a 6 months contract with option to go perm.  They can try the 12 month contract but bottom line they are sticking with contract role.

Here is my dilemma,  do I take a chance with the contract role or do I stick with my current contract which has potential for perm as soon as we get funding.  Current job is steady, I work with a pretty cool boss, and a relatively small team with flat structure.  The negative is I have no one reporting to me, they have no idea about technology, I sometime do crap work.  Or in reverse the advantage with the new opportunity is working with a technology that is marketable, I have 3 reports, there is a stronger support structure for my projects.  The negative is the uncertainty whether I will have a job after 6 month due to economic condition, I will be challenged to work with language barriers, and insurance is often said a difficult place to work.  My chinese horoscope said to be wary of taking new venture and jobs.  Watch how I invest money and be careful of my health.  Why does it has to be this year?

Then there is the conflict of leaving singapore.  Do i have the right reasons?
